Strong Start by Bronco Swimmers

The Denton High Swim Team showed they are going to be a force to contend with in class 5A this year.

Denton High Swim Team at Denton High Swim Team at DISD Pentathlon 2016 Pentathlon 2016On Thursday, the team competed in its first meet of the year, the DISD Pentathlon. In this unique meet, each swimmer was required to swim in five different events: 50 free, 50 back, 50 fly, 50 breast, and 100 free. Cumulative times for the five events determined the top swimmers for the meet. Recognition was given to the top 3 boys and top 3 girls.

For the Bronco boys, Seth Herrmann impressed with an All-Around 2nd Place finish. Herrmann took 2nd in the 50 back, 50 fly, and 100 free, while also finishing 3rd in the 50 free, and 9th in the 50 breast.

Zackery Clark achieved 3rd Place in the All-Around Boys competition. Clark placed 3rd in the 50 back and 100 free, 4th in the 50 free and 50 fly, and 6th in the 50 breast.

On the girls side, Delia Breedlove dominated by finishing 1st in four events: 50 free, 50 back, 50 fly, and 100 free. She also finished 10th in the 50 breast.

Other Bronco Swimmers who had top 10 finishes in the Swimming Pentathlon:

Karese Arnold: 7th (50 breast and 100 free), 9th (50 free and 50 back)
Rayce Richter: 6th (50 back)
Lucija Ruzevic: 8th (50 back)

Brittney Ball just missed cracking the top 10 with an 11th place finish in the 50 breast.

Denton High Swim Team at DISD Pentathlon 201625 Bronco Swimmers posted personal bests at the meet: Kenneth Aiken, Karese Arnold, Gerardo Avalos, Tabitha Barron, Delia Breedlove, Steven Chavez, Zackery Clark, Jenny Conroy, Ashlyn DuVall, Devon Fairbanks, Katherine Frederick, Steven Goodfriend, Megan Harbin, Elizabeth Hawkins, Mollee Jones, Kallie Keen, Layla Martinez, Abby McGee, MacKenzy Mueller, Michaela Mueller, Tristan Polk, Madelyn Shugart, Bruce Tran, Kayla Williford, and Caden Young.

The Broncos are back in action again Saturday Oct. 15 when they take on the other Denton ISD High Schools and Sherman High at the Denton Natatorium.
