Denton Girls Water Polo logoDenton Girls Water Polo has had a strong tradition of success in the pool.

Since 1972, water polo at the high school level is governed by the Texas Interscholastic Swim Coaches AssociationΒ (TISCA). For many years, high schools from the Houston and San Antonio areas dominated high school water polo in Texas. However, recently, teams from the Dallas-Fort Worth have been taking home the State Championship hardware:

St. Mark’s School – Boys Champions 2014, 2015, 2016, Boys Runners-up 2011

Southlake Carroll – Girls Champions 2015, Girls Runners-up 2016, Boys Runners-up 2015

Denton Girls Water Polo logoSince water polo is not yet a sport governed by the University Interscholastic League (UIL), high schools like Denton High, which is classified as a “5A School”, compete against the largest schools in the state, “6A Schools”. It is significant to mention that the Broncos have been competing against schools with much larger enrollments and have still had good success in the sport. In fact, of the girls teams reaching the TISCA State Tournament in 2016, only two, Denton and Alamo Heights (San Antonio), were neither classified by UIL as 6A or Private.

Good luck to the Boys and Girls teams this year! Take a look at the Schedule and come out to support Denton Water Polo. The games are exciting to watch. Many of the games and tournaments are held at the Denton Natatorium (200 Long Road, Denton, TX).
