Denton Bronco Swim Team 2016-17

The Denton ISD Championship last week served a good “tune-up” as the teams gear up for the 5A District UIL Meet at the Denton Natatorium on Saturday, January 21st. It’s also very satisfying for individual swimmers and relay teams to compete successfully in the DISD Championship meet against crosstown rivals Ryan, Guyer, and Braswell.

The Denton Bronco Swim Team can proudly boast of having the fastest 50-yard sprinters in the pool this year:

Delia Breedlove, Denton High School swimmerDelia Breedlove became the DISD Champion by finishing 1st in the 50 Free and 100 Free. Breedlove, a junior, is setting her sights to become the fastest girl swimmer in Denton ISD history. Her personal best in the 50 Free (25.25) is less than a second behind former Bronco phenom Danielle Svehla’s 23-year old record (24.54).

Seth Herrmann - Denton High School Swim Team 2016-17Seth Herrmann, also a junior, was crowned a DISD Champion by touching the wall first in Boys 50 Free.

Rayce Richter, Denton SwimRayce Richter, also a junior, won top honors as a DISD Champion with his 1st place finish in the 100 Back.

Other Boys Results:

Steven Chavez took 7th place in the 100 Back.

Devon Fairbanks placed 7th in the 200 Free.

Caden Young established a personal best time in the 100 Breast en route to a 7th place finish.

Other Girls Results:

Lucija Ruzevic grabbed points for the Bronco Girls by finishing 2nd in the 100 Breast and 8th in the 50 Free (personal best time).

Kallie Keen came away with 5th place in the 100 Breast.

Karese Arnold had 6th place finishes in both the Girls 50 Free (personal best time) and 100 Back.

In the Girls 100 Back, Megan Harbin snagged 7th place and Brittney Ball finished 8th overall.

In Relay action, the Girls 400 Yard Free Relay team of Tabitha Barron, MacKenzy Mueller, Michaela Mueller, and Monica Ruiz, were DISD Champions with their 1st place finish. The Girls 200 Yard Medley Relay team (Harbin, Ruzevic, Breedlove, Arnold) earned a 2nd place finish.

At the meet, 11 Bronco Swimmers posted personal bests at the meet: Arnold, Gerardo Avalos, Chavez, Jenny Conroy, Ashlyn Duvall, Tristan Fairbanks, Layla Martinez, Abby McGee (2 events), Ruzevic, Bruce Tran, and Young.

The Denton ISD Championship meet was also “Senior Night” for the class of 2017 swimmers. DISD Aquatics honored two seniors, Karese Arnold and Bruce Tran, for their hard work and accomplishments during their time on the DHS Swim Team.
